Circumventing a monumental stone stairway many
elderly parishioners found
daunting, a new entry portal, elevator access, and gathering space was
built for Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral. The
intent was to respect the grace and strength of the nationally
recognized historic Cathedral by remaining subservient and
non-competitive.
The new portal was designed to be reminiscent of other design
features found on the campus, taking great care to match the masonry
work and rich materials already in place.
